Looking for a VBS curriculum?

'The 7 C's of History'
curriculum!

With the advent of summer in the Northern hemisphere, many churches are looking forward to their Vacation Bible School (VBS) program, wondering how to share a creation-based message with their children.

We suggest teaching your class the ‘7 C’s of History.’  This approach teaches children (and adults) to view the world through ‘Biblical glasses.’  With the proper worldview, this next generation will be better able to meet the challenges thrown at them by our increasingly evolutionized culture, by enabling them to answer such questions as ‘Who was Cain’s wife?,’ ‘What about the dinosaurs?,’ and ‘Did Noah’s Flood really cover the whole world?’

Creation

Text: Genesis 1,2

Main points to emphasize:

  1. The events of each day of Creation (be sure to point out dinosaurs and all other now-extinct types were part of the ‘land animals’ mentioned on Day 6)
  2. The days of Creation were normal-length, not long periods of time
  3. Everything was originally created ‘very good’

Corruption

Text: Genesis 3, Romans 8:19-22

Main points to emphasize:

  1. Adam’s sin corrupted the entire universe, and brought death, disease, suffering, thorns/thistles, violence, bloodshed, the need for clothing into the world
  2. Paul in Romans 8 refers to the Genesis Curse and looks forward to the future liberation from it, on the basis of Christ’s finished work
  3. Genesis 3:15 is the first mention of the Gospel

Catastrophe

Text: Genesis 6-9

Main points to emphasize:

  1. God sent a globe-covering Flood as a judgment for the wickedness of man
  2. Only Noah and his family were saved on the Ark, along with two (seven of the clean animals) of each kind of air-breathing land animal (this includes dinosaurs)
  3. Many fossils and rock layers formed as a result of the global Flood
  4. The rainbow is the sign God will never again Flood the Earth
  5. An ‘Ice Age’ began after the Flood waters receded

Confusion

Text: Genesis 10,11

Main point to emphasize:The various language families and people groups originated from the language division during Peleg’s day, which God caused so that people would follow His command to ‘fill the Earth’

Christ

Text:  The Gospels

Main point to emphasize:Christ (the Creator) called the ‘Last Adam,’ was a physical descendant of the First Adam

Cross

Text: The Gospels

Main point to emphasize:The Creator suffered the curse of sin (i.e. death) for those who receive the free gift of eternal life

Consummation

Text:  Revelation 21, 22; 2 Peter 3

Main points to emphasize:

  1. Those who have received eternal life look forward to the time when the Curse (refer back to Genesis) will be no more—the creation of a new heavens and Earth
  2. If the Earth has always been filled with death and violence (as a belief in ‘millions of years’ says), what would the ‘restored’ creation be like?
