  5. Why were the Neanderthals mistakenly considered ‘primitive apemen’?
  6. From where did the Cro-Magnon people get their names?
  7. What is an archeologist?
  8. What is a ‘stone age’ culture?
  9. What is a ‘tribe’?  Name some activities of tribes during this time.

Activities:

  1. Have students look on a world map and find the general location of where this story takes place.
  2. Find out about rickets – specifically what it is, how it affects the human body, how is it prevented.
  3. Read Tackling the big freeze, interview with Michael Oard (one of the authors of the text).
